Feed-In Tariff (FIT)

Feed-In Tariff (FIT) for renewable energy

A feed-in tariff (FIT) is a policy designed to support the development of renewable energy sources by providing a guaranteed, above-market price for producers. Also, it is expected to help industrial development. In Japan, the government started the FIT system since 2012.

The government renew the purchasing price and contract every year

Under Japan’s FIT system, electric utilities and merchants purchase renewable-generated electricity at prices and contract durations set by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The rate is reviewed annually, for subsequently connected systems.
